Square Enix Says it Will “Shift to a Multiplatform Strategy”

Recent years have seen Square Enix taking a rather haphazard approach in terms of deciding which platforms to release its games for, with the decision to release major games such as Final Fantasy 16, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth as PlayStation exclusivesOnline Betting having stood out to many. It seems, however, that those decisions haven’t paid off in a financial sense, with the company now set to change course.

In recently published briefing for a financial meeting that was originally held in May, in addition to reiterating that Final Fantasy 16 and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth both failed to meet commercial expectations, Square Enix has confirmed th…

Mesut Ozil has confirmed he intends to remain at Arsenal until his contract expires next year.

World Cup winner Ozil was reported to be considering an exit from Emirates Stadium after failing to make an appearance for the Gunners following lockdown.

Arsenal last week announced plans to make 55 staff redundant because of the coronavirus pandemic and are reported to be keen to get Ozil s salary – claimed to be £350,000 per week – off the wage bill.

However, the 31-year-old playmaker insists he will remain at the club and give his all during the coming season.

My position is clear. I m here through to the last day of our agreement and I ll give everything I have for this club, Ozil told The Athletic.

Situations like these will never break me, …

Benzema desperate for France return ahead of World Cup

Karim Benzema is desperate to end his two-year international exile and play for France at the World Cup.

The Real Madrid striker scored twice during his last appearance for Les Bleus in a 4-0 friendly win over Armenia in October 2015, shortly before becoming embroiled in a scandal involving an alleged attempt to blackmail international team-mate Mathieu Valbuena over a sex tape.

Benzema was charged with conspiracy to blackmail and the case remains ongoing, but France s Court of Cassation – the country s court of final appeals in civil and criminal proceedings – backed him in July, finding that an undercover police officer acted dishonestly and pushed the parties involved towards a deal that would not have taken place without his actions.

Nevertheless, France …

Maddison sparks England World Cup fears after Leicester injury

James Maddison limped off injured in his final club game before joining up with England s squad for the World Cup in Qatar.

Thursday s announcement saw him included in Gareth Southgate s squad for the tournament having previously picked up just one cap, three years ago.

But after scoring a superb strike to put Leicester City 1-0 up away at West Ham, Maddison was then forced off through injury in the 25th minute, clutching at his hamstring.

The news will come as a big blow to Southgate, who said Maddison had earned the right to be included after registering the second most Premier League goal involvements among England players in 2022 behind Harry Kane.

With the Three Lions opening group game against Iran just nine days away, Maddison faces a nervy wait to…

Redknapp seeks Spurs perspective

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp says a top-four finish in the English Premier League would be a huge achievement for the club.

Spurs finished fourth in 2009/10, claiming a place in the Champions League ahead of Manchester City.

They could only manage fifth last season, but are back in the running this term.

Spurs sit third on the table, one point ahead of fourth-placed Arsenal.

Way over, Redknapp said when asked where a top-four finish figured in his pre-season expectations.

We ve never finished above Arsenal before. If we finish above Chelsea, my goodness.

It s tough to finish above Liverpool when you look at the players they brought in at the start of the year.

With Man City and Man United, if you finish in the to…

Rooney wants greedy Rashford, has high hopes for Martial

Wayne Rooney has told former Manchester United team-mate Marcus Rashford to be more selfish and feels Anthony Martial could be one of the best players in the Premier League.

Rooney ended a 13-year association with United before the start of this season, departing as the club s record goalscorer for a return to boyhood club Everton.

The ability and potential of Martial and Rashford, 22 and 20 respectively, was part of the reason for Rooney seeking a fresh start for the final chapter of his career as his first-team opportunities dwindled.

The former England captain believes United s future is in good hands but encouraged Rashford, who has been used predominantly as a wide attacker by Jose Mourinho despite making his first-team breakthrough as a striker, to leave th…

Verratti: I want to win the Champions League with PSG

Champions League glory is firmly in the sights of Marco Verratti after the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder signed a contract extension.

Verratti penned a new five-year deal with the French champions that will see him remain in Paris until 2021.

The 23-year-old has won four consecutive Ligue 1 titles since arriving from Pescara in 2012 and the Italian is now eyeing European success under new boss Unai Emery, having failed to progress beyond the quarter-finals in the past four seasons.

We have already won a lot in France and I want to keep on winning and now we also hope to win in Europe because that s our aim, the club s aim,  Verratti said via the club s website.

It s a very, very ambitious aim, but I m a player that likes this type of objective becaus…
